The Kidde 4MCO is a 230V mains Carbon Monoxide Detector with sealed in lithium-ion battery back-up, ideal for major refurbishments in existing properties, projects requiring complete re-wiring or new build installations.

CO detectors are now a requirement by law and a landlords responsibility to have installed in all residential premises, warning against the deadly gas known as carbon monoxide and also providing a continuous monitoring of CO levels around the home.

CO detectors should be located on each level of the home, ideally close to fuel burning appliances and also sleeping areas.

Main sources of carbon monoxide are:

• Clogged chimneys
• Cracked or loose boiler flue
• Improperly installed gas cooker, hob or hood
• Corroded or disconnected water heater vent pipe
• Gas or wood burning fireplaces
• Portable paraffin or gas heaters

The 4MCO can be linked up with 24 other Kidde and Firex mains devices (of which 18 can be initiating) including smoke, CO and heat alarms.

Key features of the 4MCO are:

• Sealed-in rechargeable lithium cell providing 7 years continuous operation in the event of a mains failure
• End of life warning after 7 years from initial power up
• Sensor - Electrochemical with de-ionised water electrolyte, sampling one every 15 seconds
• Button test - Stimulates the effect of CO at the sensor, checking electronics & sounder
• Audible / sound output - 85dB at 3 metres
• Alarm response:
• 30PPM - no alarm within 120 minutes
• 50PPM - must alarm within 60-90 minutes
• 100PPM - must alarm within 10-40 minutes
• 300PPM - must alarm within 3 minutes
• BSI certified to BS EN50291:2001
